How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
It does depend on the manager. My current management team are good communicators and all have their own management style which assists from a mentoring perspective.

I would be interested in more leaders being mentors if they also wanted to be

Managers in my experience have been very busy, but nonetheless communicative, accommodating and willing to give you real work. The feedback has perhaps been too positive however, perhaps because of being so busy.

My manager is very approachable given the flat hierarchy. They are a great resource for learning technical knowledge, however we have not had much dialogue on my development/soft skills

The managers I have had interactions with have been fantastic. My current manager frequently makes time to discuss work and provide feedback to me on completed tasks.

All managers are very proactive and supportive throughout the program. Always open to discussion and give great advice.

It's a mixed bag. Some are amazing, some are really not good. I feel there needs to be better structure / oversight of manager relationship for consistency.

I am very satisfied with my immediate management. They are super accessible and make great mentors, and really care for your professional development and personal wellbeing. They will back you and have faith in you and your ability. Executive management is also surprisingly accessible as well - they are down-to-earth and will not hesitate to say hi to new APRA staff and graduates. Management are also open and transparent with performance feedback, and do give praise and recognition to staff for completing big tasks.

Your mileage may vary but for the most part, I've had amazing managers. Managers who are understanding of your limits but also keen to push you to the edge of those limits. Very supportive of any developmental opportunities.
