Joshua Murison

We have regular work group meetings to get updates on deal progress or meetings about achieving specific milestones in deals.

7.15 AM

Wake up and get ready for work.

8.00 AM

I try to be one of the early arrivers to the office so I can prepare for the day whilst it is quiet and before meetings begin taking place. If no tasks are pressing, I take time to check a variety of news sources to see if anything may impact the industries of the deals I am currently working on and to remain up-to-date with current affairs.

9.00 AM

Most of the junior team goes to the kitchen to make a plunger coffee and toast to fuel the morning’s activities.

9.15 AM

The morning is usually a time when there are lots of meetings, both internal and external. Internal meetings are common during this time as you may receive comments from packs given to senior members in deal teams the prior night. We have regular workgroup meetings to get updates on deal progress or meetings about achieving specific milestones in deals. When we are not in meetings, I use this time to continue to work on packs in PowerPoint or analysis in Excel.

12.00 PM

Most of the junior team will have lunch together at this time, however, it may shift if some people are in meetings. Lunch is either had in the kitchen or, if it is nice weather, we will find a spot outside.

12.30 PM

Return to work and perform similar activities to the morning. Often work comes up that needs to be done during the day so there is a lot of variety in the work performed.

2.00 PM

Another plunger coffee break in the kitchen.

2.15 PM

Continue to work on today’s tasks. During this time it is common to check in with the Associate or Director on a deal to see how things are progressing and determine what needs to be done before tomorrow.

5.30 PM

Go for a run or gym to get some fresh air and improve your fitness.

6.30 PM

Grab dinner and start working on some evening tasks. During the evening, I work on packs to progress them to the required state agreed upon with more senior people in the afternoon.
