Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Promotion possibilities are clearly outlined by management. There are online resources detailing the skills and goals one should strive for in order to move up the ranks.

At the end of the program we will go through an interview process to be moved up within our teams.

Easy to migrate to other positions

It takes high work performance and proactivity with everything you do

Too early to say. Most people get promoted after 18 months.

Clear path to move up. Can decide to be individual contributor or a people manager. Need to prove experience/knowledge to move up.

Would be great to know after the first rotation what are the promotion possibilities and what it takes to move up the ranks, so we can have a better understanding and demonstrate qualities in order to get a promotion.

It seems like you need to take the reins and take on more responsibly or deliver higher quality work to move up.

Promotion from graduate to manager is certainly achievable for anyone who we hire, in my opinion. It comes down to your specific division, but in Data & Services - we promote based on merit up until manager. There are three promotions to get from graduate level to manager, and each would take 2 years on average. Moving up the ranks is not a step change, more a linear process where you are expected to move from a more technical/analysis/execution role to a project management/leadership role. Moving from manager to director becomes more challenging and is less clear to me. It is also important to call out that there are opportunities to make moves within the business. For example, you may find after 4 years in Data & Services that you want to move into a core Mastercard product role, supporting payments products for our financial services partners - and this is certainly possible.

Promotion possibilities are good but fairly rigid in that they only open up once per year.

As a global company there's room to connect with offices around the world, get acquainted and have prospects of moving internationally (post-COVID). Moving up from a grad position is generally ensured after the 18 month program, and afterwards, internal promotion may be across or within teams depending on availability and performance. I have seen bulletins for promotions/cross divisional switches which are announced somewhat often.

Internally, you can shine if you make your name known; externally, Mastercard is widely recognized and can help you get into almost anywhere you want.

Within D&S promotions are structured and career review happens every 6 months. The progression is fast for junior members but plateaus heavily for mid-level to senior employees.

After the grad program I'll become an Analyst. This is a normal promotion progression for that role. Promotion possibilities from there would take some time and a few years to move up the ladder. I also have the option to move teams horizontally to a different business unit or to a different country.

Up to my current level, career progression is workable. From my level onwards, progression is slow and quite static (moving up set ranks per promotion cycle, with minimal room for fast-tracking talented employees)
