We have our monthly PCG Meeting, this meeting is to give the client an update on construction progress, items that require the client’s direction, and financial and programme summary.

6.00 AM

Woke up to the sound of my alarm. It’s time to get ready for work, have a quick breakfast and get to the train station to catch the 6:50 train.

8.00 AM

I get to the office and it’s time to set myself up for the day. I go through my emails that have come through from the project team or clients overnight, check my calendar and plan my day ahead. I have a busy day today with a progress claim site walk, a PCG meeting and a work event.

9.00 AM

I have a quick catch-up with my project manager to go through the tasks for the day and tick off tasks that were completed yesterday. We have set up one note list which helps us stay on top of all the tasks for the project. Anything that is outstanding from yesterday and I make it my priority to resolve these matters before moving on to anything new. Before I leave for the site, I undertake a review of the progress claim and highlight anything I want to discuss or review in detail on site.

10.00 AM

It’s time to go to the site for our monthly progress claim walk with the builder and Quantity Surveyor. I put on my PPE and jump in the GoGet with my project manager. The site is about 20 minutes from our office.

10.30 AM

We arrive on-site and after a quick summary of progress on-site by the site project manager, we commence the claim walk. We start at the top of the building and work our way down, assessing all claimed items and taking photos as I go. The claim walk goes for one hour and we head back to the office after.

12.00 PM

It’s time to have lunch, I ask a few people around the office to join me for lunch. I manage to convince a few and we head to the kebab shop around the corner from the office.

1.00 PM

I’m back in the office, I start going through my emails that have come through while I was on site and respond accordingly. Once that’s done, I complete a mark-up of the progress claim with my comments and issue to the Contractor.

2.30 PM

It’s time to prepare for the PCG meeting at 3pm. I book the main meeting room, undertake a final review of the previous meeting minutes to ensure we have completed all tasks and I print out a few copies.

3.00 PM

We have our monthly PCG Meeting, this meeting is to give the client an update on construction progress, items that require the client’s direction, financial and programme summary. A week before the PCG meeting, I issue a PCG Report to the client. During the meeting, I will take meeting minutes, which will be issued after the meeting.

4.00 PM

The meeting is complete, and I head back to my desk. Its time complete the meeting minutes from the PCG Meeting and issue to all attendees for their review and action.

5.00 PM

After a busy day consisting of site visit and meeting, I have some time to go through my emails one last time and file anything that has been actioned. Together with a few other colleagues including my project manager, we have been invited by a consultant firm that we work with to celebrate their 20 years of operations. It was a great night networking with industry professionals.
