"I’m lucky as I get to work in the corporate office with RACV’s other divisions and so many great people but I also get to be in the Club, interacting with and chatting with Club Members. "

Tell me about your current role

I work in RACV’s Leisure department, specifically the RACV Club. As Club Membership Coordinator, my role is unique in the sense that I work across two teams – Club Membership and Club Events.

I work with Club Membership to acquire new members to the Club, process new member applications and assist Club members with any queries they may have in relation to the Club and their membership.

Our focus in Club Events is member engagement, enhancing the member experience and helping our Club Members get the most from their membership. I also manage some of the Member Interest Groups and different events and activities that the Club holds for its members. My role allows for involvement in lots of different activities and projects and I am constantly learning!

What’s your background and what did you study?

Throughout my school years, I was always jealous of people who knew what they wanted to do when they finished their studies and had a clear plan of how they were going to get there. I never knew what my “dream job” was but I knew that I wanted to have a career, a job that I could grow and develop. I applied for a few different courses at university but settled on a business degree due to the broad nature of such a course. I thought that during my time at university I would figure out what it was that I wanted to do but, 3 years later when I was approaching my graduation, I still did not know. The next step in the plan – A graduate program.

Can someone with a different background do your job?

Definitely! I’m a big believer that if you set your mind on something, you can achieve it. If I can go through years and years of study not knowing what I wanted to do and end up in a role that I absolutely love, in a company that is so well respected, then so can someone coming from the different background!

What’s the best thing about your role?

I love the people aspect of my role. I’m lucky as I get to work in the corporate office with RACV’s other divisions and so many great people but I also get to be in the Club, interacting with and chatting with Club Members. I am always doing something different and meeting new people.

Why did you pick RACV?

My mum was actually the one who said that I should apply for RACV’s graduate program. Every Victorian knows of the RACV, so an opportunity to work with them straight out of university was simultaneously exciting and very nerve-racking. The welcoming and friendly culture that exists at RACV meant that an hour into my first day, I was relaxed and excited about the journey I was beginning.

How did the Graduate Program help get you to where you are now?

The graduate program helped me go from someone who had no idea what they wanted to do to someone who is very passionate about their role and excited for their future at RACV.
