Sharon Leong

We made our way around the corner to see a few more friendly faces from the different Steadfast underwriting agencies like Miramar, Mansions and Procover. It was good to see a few familiar faces from the Steadfast office, catch up and better familiarize myself with their products.

7:00 AM

The sweet sound of my alarm goes off and I lay in bed hitting the snooze button, thinking those extra ten minutes will suddenly revive me. I finally get up and go downstairs to brush my teeth, decide my attire, and mentally prepare myself for the day ahead. Only positive thoughts of course 😊

8:00 AM

I get dropped off at the train station and make my way to Parramatta station, as I am attending the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) Expo today.

9:00 AM

A hour journey later, I finally arrive at Parramatta station.

Coffeee

I met up with a colleague and we stopped by a bustling, little bakery, Threefold Pastry (highly recommend their apple and custard croissant), before heading to Commonwealth Stadium for the expo.

After a few wrong turns and a lap around the stadium, we finally made it to the expo to be greeted with our name tags and a UAC goodie bag. As we entered, we were met with a few friendly faces from the Fuse Fleet team from DKG.

We made our way around the corner to see a few more friendly faces from the different Steadfast underwriting agencies like Miramar, Mansions and Procover. It was good to see a few familiar faces from the Steadfast office, catch up and better familiarize myself with their products. We continued to make our way around the endless stalls, speaking to the many, different agencies, filling up our good bag with merchandise and better understanding the different products each agency specializes in. This was a good opportunity, especially in this broking space to understand the different agencies we can reach out to depending on the products. Although this was out of my comfort zone, it was a great opportunity to learn more about the varying underwriting agencies. As well as getting out of the office and speak to those around the industry.

Many People

1:30 PM

By now, lunch had been brought out and an abundance of sandwiches, wraps and treats was served. We filled up our plates and sat outside in the sun to overlook the stadium.

After lunch, we visited a few more stalls, before heading back to the DKG office in North Sydney.

2:30 PM

Arrived back at the office and caught up with the team on their experience of UAC. Made myself a green tea and checked my emails, before finally settling down to start some work. For the remainder of the day, I worked on some landlord renewals and closing some new business quotes.

This consisted of double checking the prior year policies, confirming the changes in rate to ensure the holding insurer is still the most competitive and applicable to the client’s situation, renewing the policy, generating the invoice, and drafting the renewal email, ready to be sent out to the client.

5:10 PM

Home time! I took the 320 bus back to town hall station, made my way through rush hour and trained it back home.

6:30 PM

I finally arrived home to be excitedly greeted by my dog, Kobe. I settled in, had dinner and caught up with the family.

7:30 PM

By now, I was ready to just sink into the couch and do nothing… And that’s exactly what I did, kind of. I put some Friends on TV, brought out my laptop and eagerly started planning for my holiday at the end of the year.

9:30 PM

Before I pass out on the couch, I quickly do my nighttime/ skin care routine, read a chapter of any book on my bedside table and head to bed.

10:30 PM

Goodnight!
