Working directly with accountants and being able to support them and their team through such a large transition is extremely rewarding.

What's your job about?

Xero is a software company that provides world-class cloud-based accounting software to small businesses alongside wider practice tools provided to accountants and bookkeepers. As a Partner Consultant Graduate at Xero, we are the technical experts on the product and we work to support our accounting & bookkeeping Partners in their transition over to Xero’s wide range of tools.

You will be working directly with accounting & bookkeeping partners, running consulting sessions, supporting the sales team and working on projects that align with the goals of the team and business. On top of that, there is scope to work on a large number of different projects as well as present in front of groups at one too many events both online and in person.

This is an outstanding opportunity for anyone that loves and values working and communicating with new and different people each day. You will have the ability to make a real difference to the work-life of our partners and support them through a large change in their business.

What's your background?

I grew up in the Yarra Valley in Melbourne.Since finishing high school which feels like a very long time ago I’ve been very lucky to be able to work a variety of jobs in my time before Xero from working as an accountant in practice to working in wineries with all of them shaping my skills in different ways. In accounting, I loved being able to problem solve and support small businesses with the work I did. Working in wineries I was really able to hone my communication skills and be able to meet and build rapport with new people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Both these skills sets have been combined for me now working at Xero where I still get to problem solve and use my accounting skills but also get to meet and work with new and interesting people each day.

I joined as part of Xero’s graduate program in 2021 and as of writing this, I have been at Xero for just under a year.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes definitely! Xero is an extremely inclusive environment and the partner consulting team itself is at its best when we have individuals from different backgrounds sharing skills and working towards a common goal. To be successful in the partner consulting team you definitely have to be willing to test yourself, learn new skills and be adaptable. You should also have an interest in working with many different people and helping others.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

Working directly with accountants and being able to support them and their team through such a large transition is extremely rewarding. You are a key part of their success and can make a significant impact on their experience using Xero’s array of tools.

What are the limitations of your job?

Xero is a huge business with lots of moving parts. Being part of such a large business can be quite daunting and you also have to be adaptable and be willing and able to manage multiple projects and relationships at one time. Whilst difficult this can also be extremely rewarding.
