Having goals is very important, know what you want to do, set the goal you want to achieve and strive for doing your best.

In my opinion, a role in auditing is best suited for someone with an accounting/finance background. It is important to have an understanding of audit standards and a basic knowledge of accounting.

The tax team are all very inclusive and took every step possible to ensure I understood what I was doing and understand the value behind the work.

One of the biggest challenges that I faced initially was being a graduate with no work experience as everyone around me had a lot of experience and understanding of how the company worked whereas I had just begun my professional journey.

Don’t get caught up doing things that you or other people think you ‘should’ do, or stress if you don’t know what you want to do. Follow and try new things that you’re interested in and you’ll work it out.

It’s never too late to achieve in your career. If you feel like you’re on the wrong path that’s okay, there are still steps you can take to get to the right one.

Participate in internship programs towards the end of your degree. You gain industry experience and it puts you in a better position when applying for jobs after university
