The construction industry was out of my comfort zone when I first started (and a little now, I’m still learning) so most of the experiences I have had here are a first for me!

A part of my job includes estimating how many vehicle trips a new development will generate, and how we can distribute these trips for better traffic management and flow.

Through working at Austal, l have found myself doing things that are well outside my scope but have learnt to embrace those moments and learn which has helped immensely when l have to make decisions in my work, I have a more rounded approach in thinking.

The feeling of being challenged with a task that has not yet been implemented before and finding a solution is the most rewarding part of my role and one of the coolest things in general in software engineering.

One of the tasks that I enjoy the most is when we come together as a team to discuss a problem and brainstorm solutions. It's great to hear everyone's point of view and ideas and to work together to find the best solution.

The coolest thing is the use of 3D visualisation software to analyse gold targets. The ability to analyse the mine scale geology in 3D is awesome.
