Get a legal job or volunteer position as soon as possible. If you can land a legal job in your first year, it makes getting a clerkship and subsequently a grad job a whole lot easier!

Daily work is quite varied – clients can range from large self-insurers to overseas insurance start-ups to local listed insurers.

Be willing and enthusiastic to learn - having a positive attitude is key.

As one of the world's leading financial centres, a secondment to Johannesburg was an exciting prospect to develop my network and skillset on the African continent.
