I have been so lucky in my education throughout my life. Without it I would be a completely different person, and seeing such a concrete (sometimes literally) symbol of access to education for someone is genuinely wonderful to me.

Sometimes when you are trying to get where you think you need to be you do not notice how far you have come, look back and appreciate the progress you make.

I got to perceive the economy in a much more grounded way compared to the sanitised abstractions of the classroom.

Domestically, I get to represent MFAT to other agencies, industry and the public and see how government policy directly impacts people. Internationally, it is about standing for New Zealand’s values and working with other countries for a safer and more prosperous world.

Providing answers and ways to get students in is rewarding.

There are many opportunities for learning and development, not only within your set role but outside of it too. I have been fortunate to have had such supportive teams that encourage and push for these kinds of experiences that have allowed me to up-skill and better myself.

I love that working in Marketing can also mean collaborating with other agencies where you are exposed to new creative and insightful practices. Plus, the occasional working long lunch is always nice.
