I thought about being a pilot, or an air traffic controller, but it was the ever-changing nature and challenges of the engineering profession that drew me in.

I’m currently working at the leading edge of systems engineering, helping design a new battlespace communication system for the Australian Defence Force.

I spent my time off working in various coffee shops and going on ski holidays until I finally rediscovered my passion for aviation and returned to uni.

More people with diverse perspectives and ways of thinking through problems, increases the likelihood that different solutions can be discussed, and ultimately increases the likelihood that the team can devise the most appropriate solution.

You can't just bolt anything to a plane.  As an Aerospace engineer, you need to ensure that what you design conforms to the relevant regulations and safety standards.

While the tasks we work on are awesome, what drives me to work every morning is the care and respect that Saab gives to its employees.

Personally, I have found it great to experience a wide variety of engineering disciplines throughout my rotations. It has given me an understanding of what different people are really working on within Saab, rather than being siloed off in my own little corner.

Don’t limit yourself to working with the same people. As an engineer, it’s important to be able to work with a range of people, and you will not always be on the same project with the same people. This is also the best way to gain a range of different experiences and knowledge.
