The construction industry was out of my comfort zone when I first started (and a little now, I’m still learning) so most of the experiences I have had here are a first for me!

The best part about my job is being able to see both the business side and spend time at the depot with the actual product (the trains).

A part of my job includes estimating how many vehicle trips a new development will generate, and how we can distribute these trips for better traffic management and flow.

The coolest thing about being an engineer is being able to see large-scale projects come to fruition. Being able to build relationships within your team and other teams within the organisation is also very satisfying as well as being able to work within a team that everyone can thrive in.

Through working at Austal, l have found myself doing things that are well outside my scope but have learnt to embrace those moments and learn which has helped immensely when l have to make decisions in my work, I have a more rounded approach in thinking.

Struxture will encourage and support you to push beyond your expectations and achieve things you thought would take years to do no matter where you start from.

I like being able to see the product of my design come to life and to imagine the transmission of loading through the structure.
