I applied to a program called Tuputoa which offers Māori and Pacific Island students internships in the summer which landed me an interview with Deloitte. Since then, I received an offer as a graduate and have now been at Deloitte for 6 months and am loving every second of it.

I enjoy the critical thinking aspects of this role and the ability to develop solutions that will have a positive impact for our customers. I also enjoy liaising with our customers and forming relationships.

One of the things that I believed helped shape my pathway was my journey with sports. Having grown up fully immersed in sports, particularly rugby, I was able to translate a lot of the lessons learnt from the field to the classroom and eventually the workplace.

As an actuarial analyst, I spend a large part of my time in data cleansing and processing, drawing high-level insights from the data, and updating models.

Cognizant’s graduate training program prepares us to add value to clients and helps us to become comfortable working on client projects. I’ve appreciated the numerous networking opportunities we’re given to expand our connections and build our personal brand.
