I head over to customer service to grab the keys to the vehicle I booked out for the day. I then head back to my desk and pack my recreational river sampling gear and put on my PPE gear to head out for the day!

The KiwiRail Summer Internship Programme provided me with a taste of real-life mechanical engineering work and different parts of the rail business.

When I arrive to work, I usually check my emails if any of the clients responded to the RFIs (Request for Information) that I sent them. Also, I check my daily report on the task that needs to be done or prioritised.

On a normal day, I’ll use this time until the end of the day to really make sure I accomplish multiple tasks. I fire off emails, set up meetings and clear my to-do list. My role at the Ministry is a balance foreign policy and development activities.

In the KiwiRail graduate program, we are rotated between different teams to gain a wide understanding of the business and identify where we are best suited.

I like to be organised and on top of things. Once all is in order it's time for a knockoff.

In the morning, I often go to site visits with the Infrastructure Connections Coordinator- Cliff Whittaker. We visit sites to measure distances to boundaries to create quotes for new Three Waters Connections.
