I have learned about the immense breadth and scale of KiwiRail and its contribution to New Zealand and how ‘small’ initiatives can have an extensive impact.

I love the opportunities that we have been given. I feel like the grads aren’t just a tick of the box kind of thing and we’re actually really valued.

Working on this project makes me understand more about the amount of work required to build a tunnel and appreciate more when I drive through one. 

Daily work is quite varied – clients can range from large self-insurers to overseas insurance start-ups to local listed insurers.

The company is very supportive of internal movement and it has been great for my learning to have spent time in the eCommerce, Foodservice and Marketing teams.

I think a vast array of people can do project management. I think what you need to thrive in it is communication and people skills. Those are the most important. Having other administration skills and computer skills is helpful. The technical skills you can always learn, but having the right attitude and soft skills is really important.
