Failure isn’t failure if you learn something from it – then it becomes a stepping stone. People don't like to talk about bad times so it's hard to know, but more ‘successful people’ than you may realise bombed at something else before they started succeeding.

Something I had to tell myself constantly is that it’s okay to do things differently to how it’s always been done. It’s okay to choose a different path – as long as it’s what you want.

After doing a series of volunteer stints in the development sector, I quickly realised two things.
