In the fast-moving consumer-good (FMCG) industry, it is important to act quickly on any issues and be proactive to prevent future problems.

6.00 AM

My alarm clock goes off and I head out the door for a run in Cornwall Park.

7.00 AM

I get back home, shower and make myself some breakfast before getting in the car for work.

7.30 AM

I start my commute to the Foodstuffs North Island Head Office, which is based in Mangere. The drive only takes 20-30 minutes, as we get to go in the opposite direction to Auckland traffic.

8.00 AM

I arrive at the office, parking in one of the many free parking spaces directly outside the office.

9.00 AM

After catching up with my colleagues, checking emails and responding to internal and external requests, I head to the coffee machine for some much-needed caffeine!

11.00 AM

Today, we had our monthly catch-up session with the supply chain, which is a great chance to discuss important topics and raise issues that we are facing with suppliers and various distribution channels.

12.00 PM

I head downstairs for lunch… my favourite part of the day! A café cooked meal, which is subsidised by Foodstuffs down to $3 for a small or $5 for a large, crazy deal! It’s also a good chance to relax, mix with those who aren’t in my direct team and have a good laugh with my co-workers.

1.00 PM

I head to our booked meeting room to meet with one of our biggest suppliers, Kellogg’s. We discuss product performance, macro and micro trends occurring, marketing activities and new products. The supplier meetings allow me to mix with General Managers, Marketing Directors and Sales Managers.

3.00 PM

I spend the tail-end of the day, planning and exporting promotions across all our banners and responding to any queries that our suppliers have. In the fast-moving consumer-good (FMCG) industry, it is important to act quickly on any issues and be proactive to prevent future problems.

4.30 PM

I shut down my laptop and head off to beat the traffic, something Foodstuffs is very flexible about. If there is anything urgent, I will work again in the evening, otherwise, my mind is clear until tomorrow.

6.00 PM

At Foodstuffs there is a social committee, which organises events for all staff members such as drinks in town or other fun activities. This evening, I headed to Studio Box for a free session and dinner!
